Dr Adam Collins BSc MSc PhD RNutr
Dr Adam Collins completed a BSc (Hons) in Nutrition and Biochemistry before successfully completing an MSc in Nutrition and metabolism at Aberdeen University. Adam then went on to complete a PhD in nutrition, concentrating on nutritional assessment in health and disease. During this time, Adam investigated the monitoring of metabolic rate and body composition (body fatness) during weight loss. His research work also undertook nutritional assessment of sportsmen and professional football players, London Fire Brigade, professional and student dancers as well as members of the general public. In his time Adam has helped validated a new method of body composition assessment, has published research on body composition in peer-reviewed journals and presented his work in international conferences.
Adam taught on the undergraduate and postgraduate Nutrition and Dietetic course at London Metropolitan University before joining British college of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) in 2001 where head of Academic studies he ran modules on Nutrition & Biochemistry, Clinical Dietetics and Research Nutrition as well as being a nutrition consultant in the BCOM osteopathic clinic. He is currently a Nutrition and Dietetic tutor at the University of Surrey, teaching various aspects on the Nutrition & Dietetic degree course.
Outside of academia, Adam undertakes private consultancy work for individuals and groups. This work includes one-to-one nutrition consultations and advice, group workshops for company employees, consultancy for professional sports clubs and commissioned lectures on a variety of subjects. In addition, Adam has been expert advisor on a published sports nutrition book, and contributed expert advice to the media.
Adam is a registered nutritionist with the Nutrition Society (reg. no. N887), and hence adheres to their code of ethics ( code of ethics). A dam is also fully insured as a practicing nutritionist
