Mr Mark Boden BSc MSc RPHNutr
Mark Boden is a registered public health nutritionist RPHNutr with the Nutrition Society. With over 7 years of experience in the food industry and food regulation he has a wealth of nutrition expertise. His robust knowledge of clinical nutrition is complemented with specialist skills including media skills, new product development, food labelling, food legislation, current food trends, food research, nutrition research and project management skills.
Having graduated from a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Nutrition and Metabolism he swiftly built up a reputation for excellence specialising in nutrition supplements. In his first three years working in industry he was responsible for the formulation, labelling and launch of a range of branded products and two health care companies. Seeking to expand his expertise in nutrition and develop his interest in the challenging interface of industry, regulation and food policy he joined the Food Standards Agency. Working in the Novel Foods Division evaluating food safety dossiers, he learned how to prepare an excellent food safety dossier and launch a food product without falling fowl of the challenging web of food regulations. He has since developed his expertise in food labelling joining the Consumer Choice Food Standards and Special Projects Division. Responsible for project managing a 1.1 million pounds research programme and implementing the new Allergen Labelling Directive, his post has led him to challenge the contentious ‘May Contain’ labelling of foods. As a result he has extended his experience into the food hazard management arena and is setting new standards for industry to prevent cross contamination with allergens.
